Man rescued from St George house fire

Beaufort Road, St George, Bristol

Firefighters have rescued one man from a house fire in Bristol.

The Service received an emergency call from the man in his 40s after the fire broke out in the kitchen on the first floor of the terraced property. With his escape route blocked by fire and smoke, Fire Control Operators advised the man to secure himself in a safe room in the house.

Four fire engines from Temple and Kingswood were sent to the incident. Once on scene firefighters in breathing apparatus entered the house and used high pressure hose reels to tackle the fire.

With the fire under control crews reached the room the man had used as a safe refuge. He was then led to safety and checked over by paramedics as a precaution.
