Following a call that a light aircraft containing 25 passengers had left the runway, multiple crews were called to the incident along with the Service’s USAR advisor to assess if we could assist with the recovery of the aircraft.
Staff at the airport initially advised us that they would arrange recovery and crews were stepped down.
At approximately 16:50hrs, the USAR team was requested to assist with the recovery of the aircraft to help minimise disruption at the airport.
USAR teams worked with airport staff to prepare timber and airbag support and assist with lifting the aircraft from the runway.
