Man rescued through window from Stapleton flat fire

Begbrook Lane, Stapleton, Bristol

Firefighters have rescued a man from a fire in a ground floor flat in Bristol.

Crews from Temple, Southmead and Kingswood were called to reports of a fire at flats in the Stapleton area. When firefighters reached the scene they found a man in his 60s was still inside the property. The man was immediately rescued through a ground floor window by firefighters who then worked to tackle the fire.

A team in breathing apparatus used a high pressure hose reel to extinguish the fire which caused damage to the living room, where it is believed to have started. Crews managed to prevent the fire from spreading further within the flat or to other properties in the building.

The man was treated at the scene by paramedics for the effects of smoke inhalation before being taken to hospital by ambulance.
