Family escape from TV fire

Chandag Road, Keynsham

Three people had a lucky escape after their television caught fire as they were watching it.

The female and two children were in their living room at the time when an electrical fault caused the television to burst into flames. They quickly escaped from the property before raising the alarm.

Three fire engines from Keynsham, Brislington and Kingswood attended the incident. On arrival they found the ground floor lounge well alight and immediately set to work containing the blaze. Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property, using a CO2 extinguisher and a hose reel to deal with the fire.

They were successful in stopping the fire spreading to other rooms in the house or an adjoining property. The fire did however cause severe damage to the lounge and smoke logging throughout the property. Fortunately no one was injured in the incident.

The cause of the fire was found to be accidental, as a result of the electrical fault.
