Avon Fire & Rescue Service (AF&RS) will open up Blagdon Fire Station for a fun and interactive recruitment open day on Saturday 23rd September.
From 10:00 until 16:00, the fire station will open its doors to visitors, with the local on-call fire crew on hand to talk about what joining the Service could offer you. Also on offer will be various demonstrations of road traffic collision procedures, games and children’s activities as well as refreshments available to purchase from Blagdon School Parent and Teachers Association (PTA) and Let’s Melt.
Blagdon Firefighter Luke Groves said: "We’re really looking forward to opening our doors and inviting the local community to come and see some of the work that we do.”
The free event, hosted by Blagdon Fire Station, will serve as an opportunity for local people to talk to firefighters and learn about what becoming an on-call firefighter could offer them. Also raising money for The Fire Fighters’ Charity, the event will offer a wide range of activities including the chance to ‘have a go’ at firefighter drills, try on firefighting kit and more.
Luke added: "We encourage all members of the community to join us and come and say hello.
"It's a chance for everyone to participate in interactive displays, all while having fun and building connections with your local firefighting team."
