Firefighters support ex-service staff with cash collections

AF&RS logoFirefighters from Avon Fire & Rescue Service (AF&RS) have presented the Royal British Legion with a cheque for £3,000 following a series of collections.

With many AF&RS staff former servicemen and women themselves, a series of collections took place at the end of 2012 in aid of the Royal British Legion.

Soldiers from the 39thSignal Regiment were invited to Avonmouth Fire Station today (Wednesday 28 August) to collect the cheque.

Red Watch Manager Gareth Lloyd said: “We organised the collections as many of the firefighters who work for AF&RS have previously served in the Armed Forces.

“The Royal British Legion does a fantastic job in providing support to serving and former members of the Armed Forces and we wanted to do something to help.”
