Two weeks to have your say on the future of your Fire Service

With just two weeks before consultation closes (18 February 2022), Chief Fire Officer Mick Crennell is encouraging residents to complete a survey on the future of Avon Fire & Rescue Service (AF&RS).

Making our Communities Safer and Making our Services Stronger are the overarching strategic priorities in AF&RS’ Service Plan, which shapes the future for the Service and is currently out for consultation.

Local people are being encouraged to have their say on proposals which outlines the Service’s commitment to saving lives, reducing emergency incidents, and preventing, protecting and responding to the needs of our local communities.

With two weeks to go until the consultation closes, local residents are being asked to read the proposals and have your say: www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/W2VL9LG

Mick Crennell, Chief Fire Officer for AF&RS said: “Avon Fire & Rescue Service exists to serve our local communities and everything we do is aimed at making our area a better place for all who live and work here.

“We are asking for local people’s views on our proposed commitments to keep our local communities safe and our plans to match our resources to manage, prevent and protect the public from identified risks.

“The proposals and any feedback you provide will then inform our Service Plan, which is our contract with our staff, our partners and the local communities we serve, to the service we’ll work to achieve over the next five years.

“If you agree with our planning approach and the priorities we’ve outlined, we want to hear from you. If you disagree or feel something has been overlooked, tell us, we want to hear from you.  Have your say on the future of your fire service now.”

The Service Plan Proposals consultation is open until Friday 18 February 2022.

The anonymous feedback will then be collated and considered as part of the Service Plan 2022-2025, which will be submitted to the Fire Authority for their approval at their March 2022 meeting, before the Service Plan is published on 1 April 2022.
