On Business Continuity Awareness Week (17-21 May 2021) Avon Fire & Rescue Service (AF&RS) raise awareness of the importance of business continuity and its basic and essential best practices.
Led by the Business Continuity Institute, this year’s theme is ‘business continuity starts with you’. In the past few years, the campaign has explored new themes, but this year we’re going back to basics to ensure everyone has an understanding of business continuity and to showcase some of the people and activities behind the scenes that are essential to keeping our service running.
The COVID-19 pandemic and its consequent disruptions have shed a light on how important it is for businesses, of any size and in any industry sector, to have business continuity plans in place for when the unexpected happens. We also want to use this opportunity to thank all of our staff who have worked so hard not only in keeping our own service working, but also supporting our local response to the pandemic.
Clare Pratt, Operational Risk Manager, said: “Business continuity plans are essential for any organisation, but for us at Avon Fire & Rescue Service, we need to ensure our plans are embedded in our organisation to ensure we are ready to respond to any incident.
“We work hard to ensure that employees are engaged and aware of our plans, and know how to respond to any situation. On Business Continuity Awareness Week we’re reminding all of our staff how important they are because business continuity starts with you.”
