Avon Fire Authority opens applications for an Independent Person

Avon Fire Authority is seeking applications from members of the public interested in providing their views as an Independent Person in relation to allegations concerning Members’ conduct under the Localism Act 2011.

The Fire Authority is required to put in place arrangements under which allegations can be made in respect of conduct by Members of the Fire Authority.

As part of that process the views of an Independent Person are taken into account by the Authority before it makes its decision on an allegation that it has decided to investigate.

To be considered for the role the person must not be or have been a member or co-opted member or an officer of the Fire Authority or of a committee or sub-committee of the Authority in the last five years; or a relative or close friend of a current member or co-opted member or officer of the Fire Authority or of a committee or sub-committee of the Fire Authority.

The Authority invites applications from those interested in filling the vacancy for a three year term, commencing Wednesday 18 July 2018.

The closing date for applications is noon on Friday 18 May.
