Unattended cooking sparks fire

Saturday 19 December
22.56 Milsom Street, Bath

A man in his 50s had a lucky escape after a fire at this flat.

When firefighters arrived at the third floor flat they found the man already outside unhurt.

Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the flat and tackled the fire in the kitchen of the property.

A positive pressure ventilation fan was then used to clear the smoke.

It’s thought the fire started accidentally after cooking was left unattended on the grill. The man had fallen asleep, but fortunately woke up and discovered the fire.

The kitchen was left damaged by fire and smoke.
