A man believed to be suffering from suspected spinal injuries had to be cut out of his car after the vehicle was in collision with a tree.

Firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the roof of the vehicle and create space for paramedics to carry out an assessment of the man, who was thought to be in his 40s.

The man was carried out of the vehicle on a spinal board and taken to hospital by ambulance. Police closed the road during the incident.
