The South West Command Development Centre (SWCDC) has five
main functions. It is used for command
training and assessment and personal development.
It also has a visual and audio production studio and a conference
centre.
The centre has a wide range of briefing, interview, examination,
presentation and group discussion rooms available with full
multi-media facilities. Fully trained staff, including an
occupational psychologist, can assist in planning and running
assessment and development events.
The building also houses a comprehensive design, development and
production suite. This enables monitoring and recording of
training and events as well as the production of videos, CD ROMs,
DVDs and interactive multi-media packages.
The SWCDC can be used as Gold Command in a real
situation. The centre has comprehensive communications
systems, equipment and administration facilities available for the
management of single or multi-agency incidents and civil emergency
situations.
Gold Command is set up when a major incident is declared.
It is where all senior level officers from the agencies and
organisations involved in the incident gather. It is from
here that major decisions regarding the incident are made and are
communicated to those involved, as well as the media and the
public.
It can also be used as Gold Command for training
purposes. |
