Guidance on Physical Training

The role of firefighter can be physically demanding, and it is important to consider your physical fitness before taking part in the selection process.

General exercise guidance is available by downloading the national steering group, FireFit's, Guidance on Physical Training Preparation for National Firefighter Selection Tests (PDF 1480kb, opens in a new window)

These guidelines are not compulsory for the selection process, but may help if you wish to improve your physical fitness.

If you are in any doubt about your health or physical ability to exercise, or have not done much physical fitness training before, consult your doctor or seek advice from a trained professional before you start.
