Three pumps from Temple attended this incident and when they
arrived found a man and a woman perched on a small third floor
balcony after escaping from a fire in their bed-sit.
A team of four firefighters entered the building and made their way
upstairs to fight the blaze while crews outside pitched the
turntable ladder to the balcony. The couple were rescued quickly
and taken to hospital by ambulance. Luckily they had only suffered
slight smoke inhalation.
The flat was badly damaged by the fire and crews remained at the
scene for over an hour damping down and clearing the smoke. All the
other residents of the building had escaped safely after hearing
the alarm go off
