Although this building was being demolished crews had to work
hard to fully extinguish the fire, which had started in the early
hours of the morning.
When the first two pumps arrived there was a large amount of smoke
coming from the area and jets were laid out to fight the fire and
protect the buildings on either side. Extra crews were called for
and at its height this incident had over 25 firefighters in
attendance.
The crews had a difficult task extinguishing all the sections of
fire and relief crews attended until 8.45am with others returning
later in the day to re-inspect the
site.
