Two rescued following collision

12 October 2006 - 08.52 - M4 westbound, between J18 and J19

Avon Fire & Rescue Service had to free two casualties from their cars following a five vehicle collision on the M4.

When crews from Bath, Speedwell and Yate arrived at the scene, they found two LGVs and three cars had been involved. The female driver of one car, and the male driver of another, were both trapped. The man was brought out of his car through the side, while the woman was brought out on a spinal board after the roof of her car was removed. Both were taken to hospital by ambulance, and their injuries are believed to be life threatening.

The road was closed for some time during and after the collision.
