A woman has been rescued by firefighters after a road traffic collision involving four vehicles on the motorway.

When crews arrived on the scene they found the 23-year-old woman trapped in her Ford KA and three other vehicles with minor damage.

Firefighters stabilised the Ford KA and using hydraulic cutting equipment they removed the roof of the vehicle.

Working alongside paramedics crews then assisted the woman on to a spinal board and she was taken to hospital suffering from suspected spinal injuries, although her condition was not thought to be life-threatening.

No one else was hurt during the incident.
