Van ends up in garage after RTC

Van came to rest through garage roof

Sunday 11 May
23.22 Limeburn Hill, Chew Magna

The driver of a Ford Transit van was rescued by firefighters after a road traffic collision left the vehicle embedded in the roof of a garage.

A total of three appliances from Chew Magna and Bristol attended the property on Limeburn Hill, Chew Magna, following the incident.

The vehicle had left the road, colliding with a telegraph pole and a hedge, before coming to rest on top of the walls and roof timbers of the domestic garage.

Although the male driver was not trapped in the van, his precarious position meant firefighters were required to carry out a safe rescue. Crews entered the property and put a ladder up to the passenger window so the driver could be released. He was then taken to hospital by ambulance personnel with minor injuries.

Firefighters also worked to make the vehicle safe ahead of its recovery.
