The wreck of the car

Two drivers had to be cut free from their vehicles following a head-on collision.

Two pumps and the rescue tender from Avonmouth Fire Station attended the scene, where they found the male drivers of a VW and Ford car trapped in their badly damaged vehicles. The force of the collision had caused the engine from one of the cars to be thrown several metres clear of the crash scene.

Working simultaneously on the two cars, crews used hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the doors and roofs so the men could be freed. Both were treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to hospital by ambulance suffering from various injuries to their legs
