Four appliances attended the cinema complex after Fire Control received numerous calls from members of the public who saw smoke and flames coming from the roof of the building.

On arrival crews found a fire in the facade and roof section at the front of the building. The blaze appeared to have started in a store room in a private area of the cinema. Hose reels were initially used to fight the fire from the car park and by firefighters who gained access to the inside of the building. Crews later used a ladder to reach the roof so the fire could be extinguished.

No one was injured in the incident and the cinema affected was evacuated before the arrival of the fire service.

An investigation carried out at the scene found that the fire had started accidentally in an air conditioning duct.
