Friday 18 June
10.52 Stoke Lane,
Stapleton, Bristol
Firefighters have been tackling a fire in a number of sheds,
which produced smoke which could be seen for miles.
The Avon Fire & Rescue Service Control room received 17
calls to the incident.
A fire appliance from Speedwell Fire Station stopped on the M32
and crews were able to tackle the fire by accessing the field from
the motorway. Another appliance from Southmead Fire Station managed
to access the site from Coldharbour Lane. Additional appliances
were called upon for water due to the remoteness of the field.
At the height of the fire four firefighters wearing breathing
apparatus tackled the fire using two high pressure hose reels and a
number of jets.
Once the fire was extinguished the Avon Fire & Rescue
Service Urban Search & Rescue Team’s bobcat was used to turn
the fire debris over to check for hotspots.
Fortunately no one was hurt and the cause of the fire is
unknown.
Crews remained on the scene for a number of hours to ensure the
fire was fully extinguished.
