20.08 - Willsbridge
This incident occupied the service throughout the night and
involved a large quantity of tyres, as well as a number
of vehicles, trees and some small buildings.
Due to the tyres, the fire produced an intense heat and
required a lot of water. Crews laid hose lines from hydrants some
distance away to bring water to the site and managed to
bring the flames under control, preventing its spread.
Later the High Volume Pump was set into the River Avon and hose
laid for about a mile to supply sufficient water to fully
extinguish the blaze.
The main road between Keynsham and Willsbridge was closed to allow
firefighters to work safely. Crews worked throughout the
night fighting the fire and continued in to the following
morning clearing up
