Woods, Church Road, Abbots Leigh
A mountain biker who fell while tackling a steep course in Leigh
Woods had to be rescued by fire crews and paramedics after he broke
his ankle.
The man, thought to be in his late 20s to early 30s, had come to
rest on a steep embankment covered in loose wood, stone and
mud.
After paramedics had stabilised the broken ankle and administered
pain relief, the man was placed on to a scoop
stretcher.
As the ground was unstable, firefighters set up rope rescue
equipment to create two ‘hand rails’ down to the cyclist, allowing
him to be carried out safely and to a waiting
ambulance.
