A fire has destroyed the roof of a detached property near
the village of Pensford.
Crews were called to the two storey property after the owners saw
smoke issuing from their home. Firefighters from Chew Magna,
Brislington, Bedminster and Southmead were alerted and on arrival
were faced with a rapidly developing fire in the roof of the
property.
A hose reel was used to deal with the fire from outside and
firefighters wearing breathing apparatus also entered the loft to
attack the fire from inside the house. A salvage operation was also
launched to protect furniture and possessions in the house water
and smoke damage.
Due to the efforts of crews the fire was contained to the roof
space, although extensive damage was caused. Water damage was also
caused throughout the property.
No one was injured in the fire which is thought to have started
accidentally as a result of an electrical
fault.
