Pub badly damaged in fire

Tuesday 30 December
01.11 Bath Road, Oldland Common, Warmley

An investigation is underway after a fire at a public house in Oldland Common.

When crews arrived at the Hollybush Public House they found smoke issuing from the premises and a fire on the first floor at the back of the property.

The landlord and landlady, both in their 50s, were already out of the pub when crews arrived, thanks to their two dogs who had alerted them to the fire.

Six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the premises and fought the fire using three high pressure hose reels. A positive pressure ventilation fan was also used to clear the smoke.

The upstairs of the pub was badly damaged, but fortunately no one was hurt.

Fire investigators are continuing to try to establish how the fire started.
