Firefighters from Speedwell and Bath will be out with the
sponges and brushes this Saturday, 8 May, for a charity car
wash.
Windows will be washed and bonnets buffed at the fire stations
on Speedwell Road in Bristol and Cleveland Bridge in Bath from
around 8.30am until 5pm.
The events are taking place to raise funds for The Fire
Fighters Charity and children’s charity Wooden Spoon.
Car wash organiser, Firefighter Mike Collin from White Watch at
Speedwell Fire Station, said: “Our car washes are always well
supported by the local community and we hope Saturday’s will be
just as popular.
“We’re raising money for two really good causes and I hope that
people will dig deep for charity.”
The Fire Fighters Charity provides support services and
treatment to serving and retired firefighters and support staff in
times of need and Wooden Spoon aims to provide disadvantaged
children with opportunities.
The car washes are part of wider fundraising activities for the
charities by Mike and his colleagues Scott Cole and Mark Searle,
who this year will be taking on the Four Peaks Challenge, climbing
the four highest peaks of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
Tasked with raising £4,000 in sponsorship, Mike and the team
hope Saturday’s car washes will add to the £2,000 already
collected.
