Speedwell Fire
Station Manager, Mark Webb, said: “This is fantastic news for all
three of our winners, but also for the service as a whole. All our
operational staff work hard to maintain their fitness levels and to
have three members of staff win six medals is a great
achievement.
“Much of the
country has been gripped by Olympic fever in the last couple of
weeks and for Avon Fire & Rescue Service winning these medals
is like having our own Olympic glory.”
The tenth World
Firefighter Games took place in Liverpool between Sunday 24 August
and Tuesday 2 September and the event was hosted by Merseyside Fire
& Rescue Service.
Thousands of
firefighters from 38 countries across the world have been competing
in 73 events, including athletics, power lifting, sailing and
