New homeowners are being targeted by Avon Fire & Rescue
Service and estate agent Your Move Oliver Scarlett to make sure
they are safe in their new homes.
Thousands of leaflets have been produced, providing four pages
of fire safety information. These include tips such as having
working smoke alarms and planning an escape route. Your Move Oliver
Scarlett will be making sure these go out to all people buying
homes in the area using their services.
Avon Fire & Rescue Service and Your Move Oliver Scarlett are
launching the leaflet from Your Move's newest office in Worle High
Street, Worle, Weston-super-Mare, although all its branches across
the Avon area will be distributing them.
Station Office Steve Quinton, from Bedminster Fire Station, who
has masterminded the project for AF&RS, said: "We are delighted
to be working with Your Move Oliver Scarlett. Those moving into a
new home are potentially at risk from fire, as they are not
familiar with their surroundings. By following the tips in this
booklet, we hope they can have a safe and happy move."
Your Move Oliver Scarlett co-owners, John and Becky Martin said:
"We are absolutely delighted to support this important initiative.
Safety in the home is of paramount importance and although we all
think it will never happen to us, we have all read how devastating
a fire in the home can be. Our little boy is just nine weeks old
and we have found this initiative essential in ensuring he, and
indeed us, can sleep safely at night."
