Six firefighters from Bedminster Fire Station will be taking part in a charity run this weekend dressed in full fire kit and wearing breathing apparatus sets on their backs.

Paul Henbest, Andy Baker, Jon Holmes and Chris Wright from Red Watch and James Lovegrove and Craig Fisher from White Watch have signed up to take part in this year’s Sport Relief event in Bristol.

The six will be carrying an extra 15 kilograms, or two stone, on their backs due to the weight of their breathing apparatus sets as they run the three mile course.

The team Andy said: “We wanted to sign up for the event to help raise money for Sport Relief and help kids get active. We decided to do it in full fire kit and breathing apparatus sets to make ourselves a little bit different from everyone else running and also help our supporters recognise us in the crowd along the way.

“It will be quite hard to run with the heavy kit on and I am sure we are going to get very hot. But we want to raise as much money as possible, so please support us.”

The run takes place in Bristol from Millennium Square on Sunday 16 March at 12pm.
