Portishead shop fire

Wednesday 30 December
02.09 High Street, Portishead

Two fire engines from Portishead Fire Station were called after fire broke out in a commercial premise in the town.

On arrival crews found a blaze in the ground floor shop which measured roughly 10 metres by 10 metres.

A total of four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the building and used a hose reel to extinguish the blaze. The fire is thought to have started accidentally.

A positive pressure ventilation fan was brought in to clear smoke logging from the property. Firefighters remained on scene for an hour and a half damping down and cutting away wall panelling to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.
