The High Sheriff of Bristol, Mr Richard Lee, and his wife Libby,
are set to visit Avon Fire & Rescue Service tomorrow - Tuesday
27 February.
Mr Lee will be meeting Assistant Chief Fire Officer Chris
Palmer, along with members of Blue Watch at Temple Fire
Station.
He will watch a number of demonstrations laid on by the crews,
before heading off to the service’s Youth Development Centre, at
Bedminster Fire Station.
While at the Youth Development Centre Mr Lee will meet
youngsters enrolled on the FireSkills course, as well as staff and
other students.
FireSkills is designed for disaffected and disadvantaged young
people aged 13 to 16 years old. The course allows students to take
part in elements of the Fire Cadet programme while still gaining
educational qualifications. Those referred to the course have an
opportunity to gain two Key Skills and a unit of Preparation for
Employment.
