At our last meeting the Committee considered the publicity and
attention which recently Avon has attracted in relation to the
positive action events. We also read with interest the statement
which Avon Fire Authority has released.
Frankly we are appalled that legitimate and lawful activities
designed to change the Fire & Rescue Service have met with such
scorn and criticism.
Whilst I appreciate that our words can’t take away from what has
already been reported and said, I hope that our support for you,
your senior management team and others will prove to be of
comfort.
We would like to place on record our thanks and appreciation for
all your efforts and confirm that we whole heartedly support the
initiatives which are designed to increase the under-representation
of women within the Fire & Rescue Service.
We sincerely hope that you have the strength and courage to keep
going and if there is anything we can do further to support you or
