As well as paying a visit to their local GP, patients from a
Nailsea surgery were able to gain advice from their local
firefighters during a series of events at the practice in
May.
Firefighters were on hand with fire safety advice at Brockway
Surgery, part of Nailsea and Backwell Medical Group, which
organised a two week event for older patients.
Other local services in attendance included Nailsea Disability
Centre, Help the Aged, Avon and Somerset Constabulary and North
Somerset Council’s Care Connect and Care and Repair services.
Veronica Baker, Practice Assistant for Backwell and Nailsea Medical
Group said: “These organisations offer great services for local
people and we wanted to make sure our patients had access to
information that could benefit them.
“I’ve had lots of positive feedback from patients during the
fortnight and am very grateful to all the local organisations which
gave their support.”
Nailsea Fire Station Manager Gary Carr-Smith from Avon Fire &
Rescue Service said: “From our perspective it was a great
opportunity to promote fire safety and help people with any
concerns they have about staying safe in their
homes.”
