Sunday 25 October
17.50 Airpoint,
Skypark Road, Bedminster
A man had to be treated for the effects of breathing in smoke
after he attempted to tackle a small fire which had broken out in
the kitchen of his flat.
When firefighters arrived on the scene they found the fire was
contained to the cooker and surrounding units of the sixth floor
flat. The male occupant – thought to be in his late 20s to early
30s – was still inside the property and showing signs of smoke
inhalation. Crews helped him out of the flat and into the care of
paramedics, who then took him to hospital for a check up.
Firefighters used a CO2 extinguisher to put out the small fire
which was thought to have been caused after food in a cooker caught
light.
If you come across a fire in your home, don’t try to tackle it.
Close the door on the fire, if it is safe to do so, and leave the
property.
