This fire in a two containers in a rear car park of the store escalated after the blaze spread to a cage containing propane gas cylinders, causing several to explode. On hearing the explosions, some of the on-duty firefighters from Radstock and Paulton headed to their stations before being mobilised to the scene by Control.

Fortunately the cage containing the propane prevented the cylinders from flying off and causing further damage.

Crews from Radstock, Paulton were on the scene for over five hours while they made the scene safe. The Cobra, a new hose from Southmead, capable of cutting through metal, was also deployed during the operation along with two jets and two hosereels.

The fire is believed to have been started deliberately.
