Carlingcott Mill, Peasedown St John
A horse that fell into water when a riverbank collapsed was
successfully rescued by crews in an operation lasting more than two
hours.
‘Lara’ is thought to have been in the river overnight and was
cold and exhausted when pumps from Paulton and Radstock
arrived.
The watercourse was diverted, reducing the water level, before a
makeshift sling was attached to the animal. A local farmer pulled
her from the river using a tractor.
Lara was up and eating grass on the departure of the
service.
