Major fire averted by security guard

04.39 Former House of Fraser building, Broadmead, Bristol

A small fire which broke out in the former House of Fraser building in Broadmead could have resulted in a major blaze, had a vigilant security guard not noticed the incident in its early stages.

On arrival crews found the fire was confined to a two metre by two metre void area between the second and third floor. They extinguished the fire using two CO2 extinguishers.

It is believed the fire started accidentally following building work that had been taking place during the day before.
