Magdalen Way, Worle, Weston-super-Mare
A house has been left badly damaged after it was struck by a
firework.
Firefighters were called to the property and on arrival found a
fire in the upstairs bedroom, close to the window. It appears a
rocket had struck the window and exploded, igniting the fire.
Two people, a man and a woman in their 20s, were downstairs in
the property at the time. They heard a loud bang outside and then
were alerted to the fire a few minutes later when their upstairs
smoke detector activated.
Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire
using one high pressure hose reel.
The house was left quite badly damaged by the fire, with fire
damage to the upstairs bedroom and smoke damage to much of the
upstairs of the property.
Fortunately no one was hurt and police were on
scene.
