Friday 23 July
22.20 Pucklechurch Trading Estate, Pucklechurch
Firefighters were successful in limiting the damage caused by a
blaze which broke out in an industrial unit at
Pucklechurch.
Fifteen appliances, including fire engines, an aerial appliance,
a hoselayer and a command unit attended after the blaze
broke out.
The first crews to arrive at the commercial vehicle repair and
restoration business found the building well alight and
immediately called for additional support. Firefighting took place
in several sectors around the 75metre x 25metre, single storey,
structure. Five jets were used to bring the fire under control
which involved the front section of the building.
Initially there were also concerns that a number of acetylene
cylinders being stored in the workshops may have been involved in
the fire. Fortunately firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were
able to quickly locate the cylinders, which were not affected by
the blaze. They were then moved to safety.
During an operation lasting around two hours, crews were
successful in bringing the fire under control and limiting the
damage caused to the front half of the unit. Regular
inspections were carried out during the course of Saturday
morning to ensure the fire was fully extinguished
A fire investigation has been launched to ascertain the
cause of the blaze.
