A 47-year-old man had to be lifted to safety after falling around three metres on a ship.

The rope rescue team from Temple Fire Station worked alongside crews from Avonmouth Fire Station and paramedics to stabilise the man, who was then strapped to a scoop stretcher. Using the turntable ladder the man was then lifted out of the shaft and taken to hospital by ambulance.

His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
