Sunday 11 July
13.15 Clevedon
Road, Tickenham, Nailsea
A man who was stripping paint from the facia boards of his house
with a heat gun accidentally set fire to his house.
When firefighters arrived on the scene they found a fire in the
roof of the detached property.
Six firefighters wearing BA tackled the fire using two high
pressure hose reels. They then stripped back a number of the roof
tiles to ensure the fire was fully out.
Fortunately, no one was hurt during the incident.
Avon Fire & Rescue Service praised the actions of the owner
of the property, who quickly used his garden hose pipe to contain
the fire until crews arrived. This undoubtedly reduced the spread
of the fire and meant the damage to the property was
minimised.
