Sunday 9 November
01.48 Yanley
Lane, Yanley, Long Ashton
A man and a woman had to be rescued by firefighters after their
car got stuck in flood water.
Crews were called to the incident and on arrival found the
couple, in their 60s, trapped inside their vehicle. It appears the
road had been closed after the river had burst its banks, but the
couple, who were at a friends house along the road, were unaware of
the closure. As they drove along the road the water got deeper
until it was covering the bonnet of the car.
Three firefighters wearing dry suits waded out into the water,
which was around three feet deep, with an inflatable sled and
helped the couple to safety.
No one was hurt, the couple were just cold and a little
shocked.
