An investigation is being carried out into a blaze that destroyed a flat in Bristol.

Three fire engines, two from Speedwell and one from Temple fire stations, responded to a number of 999 calls from local people.

Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the bedsit flat and used a hose reel to extinguish the fire. The occupants of the home, and a number of surrounding flats, had evacuated prior to the arrival of the crews.

The cause of the blaze is being investigated today (Thursday).
