Wednesday 9 December
19.28 Backwell Hill Road, Backwell
A wooden chalet has been destroyed in a
fire at a stable yard.
Two fire engines from Nailsea Fire Station were called
after the blaze broke out in the 4 x 10 metre structure. On arrival
crews found the building well alight and requested additional fire
appliances from Portishead and Yatton.
A total of six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used
jets and hosereels to bring the blaze under control. During the
course of the night additional appliances attended from
Weston-super-Mare, Bedminster and Avonmouth fire stations during a
lengthy operation to dampen down following the fire.
The blaze completely destroyed the wooden structure which was
unoccupied at the time. Fortunately it was some distance from the
main stables and no animals were affected.
The cause of the fire was being investigated.
