Fire safety is important!
Fire is very dangerous, and is one of the main causes of
accidental injury and death amongst children. You can help prevent
a fire in your home by making sure that you don’t play with
matches, lighters or candles, that you don’t put things onto the
cooker, or play near a fire or heater.
Speak to your parent or carer to make sure that your house
has a working smoke alarm – smoke alarms can save lives as they
give you an early warning of a fire. Avon Fire & Rescue Service
can arrange free
Home Fire Safety Visits
You should also make sure you speak to your parent or carer
about what you should do if a fire happens in your home. Having an
escape route planned means that if there is a fire you know the
best way to get out of the house.
Hoax calls cost lives!
Hoax or prank calls endanger lives as it means our crews may not
be available to deal with a real fire.
If you make hoax calls your telephone number can be traced and cut
off. Hoax calls can lead to a fine and criminal record.
