This page deals with various aspects of fire safety legislation and provides information on how you can meet legislative obligations and requirements.

Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (RRFSO)

The above regulations came into force on the 1 October 2006.

The RRFSO requires the person who has some control over a premises to carry out a fire safety risk assessment. Further information can be found on the following sites:

Communities and Local Government (CLG) has produced this site which, among other things, explains the criteria of the RRFSO and its implications. Along with information and guidance on how to comply to them.

A full set of RRFSO guidance documents have been produced by the CLG. These are available as a free PDF download or can be purchased as a hard copy.

The guides provide relevant fire safety information and examples of fire safety risk assessments.

An online electronic risk assessment form will be available in the near future.  Currently you can request one by telephoning your area office.
