Avon Fire & Rescue Service works closely with a
number of groups, businesses and agencies in the
community.
By working together with agencies such as the police, ambulance,
probation service, charities and community groups we can tackle
complex problems. A broader range of perspectives, knowledge,
information, strengths and skills can provide new and better ways
of delivering services.
Partnerships help us create more for less - pooling resources
can help partners achieve results in a more cost effective way and
access extra resources. Working with our partners allows us to
reach all areas of our community with vital safety information and
advice.

The Safer Homes Van (Formerly The Bobby Van

Police Community Trust in 2001 to provide extra security for people
in the community who are vulnerable or who have been victims of a

smoke alarms amongst vulnerable homeowners over 60 and disabled
people of any age.
Knowle West is a target area for AF&RS to reduce
fires, and anti-social behaviour which results in fires. We work in
partnership with Knowle
West Media Centre, this give us access to
existing community structures and the opportunity to increase
our risk reduction and community safety activities in the
area.
AF&RS supports the delivery of the
The Prince's Trust 12-week Team Programme through the
City of Bristol College. The programme aims to develop young
people by modifying behaviour and changing attitudes. Having a
direct link to this programme, AF&RS creates ‘friends’ of the
fire service who become socially aware, respect the service's
social beliefs and values, and can assist with the service’s
aim of reducing arson and accidental ignition.
AF&RS works with UNITE student
properties to improve fire safety provisions
within present and future buildings managed by Unite and to
raise the profile of the fire and rescue service among the student
population.
