Kevin Pearson was appointed Chief Fire Officer/Chief Executive
of Avon Fire & Rescue Service in 2001.
Kevin began his career as a firefighter with Cleveland Fire
Brigade in 1980 and also worked for Oxfordshire Fire Service before
joining AF&RS in 1994. Having risen quickly through the
service, Kevin became one of the youngest CFOs/CEs in the country
after taking on this lead role.
Since then he has provided leadership through some difficult and
turbulent times for the fire and rescue service. Despite prolonged
and disruptive industrial relation issues nationally, Kevin has
striven to ensure AF&RS has remained at the forefront of
modernisation and has been responsible for instigating many major
changes to the service at local level.
As well as this, CFO/CE Pearson has held a range of posts at
regional and national level and has made a significant contribution
to developing equalities within the fire and rescue service.
In December Kevin visited the Gambia on behalf of charity Gambia
and Avon Fire Services in Partnership (GAFSIP). GAFSIP, which was
formed 15 years ago, provides vital training and equipment to The
Gambia Fire and Ambulance Service. During his visit, Kevin saw
first-hand the effect that the charity has had in The Gambia.
Kevin lives near Weston-super-Mare with his wife and two sons.
His outside interests include a now passive passion for sport, and
an active involvement as a mid-handicap golfer.
