James Dack joined AF&RS in 1998 as Finance Manager and was
promoted to his current role four years later.
Responsible for a variety of areas including Finance, Supplies
and Services, Office Services and Premises, James’ remit recently
widened to cover Technical Services and Fleet.
A former student of Bournemouth University and the University of
the West of England, James holds a BA (Hons) degree in Business
Studies and is a qualified CIMA accountant. He is a member of the
Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and of the Chartered
Institute of Purchase and Supply (CIPS) and is currently studying
for a foundation CIPS qualification.
James started his working career with IBM in 1988 as a finance
analyst before joining Bristol City Council as a systems finance
officer in 1990. During his time with the council, James worked as
a senior finance officer in several departments including education
and transport before being promoted to senior accountant.
A keen snowboarder, James enjoys travel and photography and is
treasurer of the charity Gambia and Avon Fire Services in
Partnership (GAFSIP).
James plays cricket for Bristol YMCA Cricket Club and is also
treasurer of the organisation. He is currently supporting the
club’s efforts to raise £250,000 to buy its cricket ground at
Golden Hill in North Bristol.
