Director of Operations Response - Assistant Chief Fire Officer (ACFO) John Dando

John Dando ACFO John Dando began his career with AF&RS in 1979 as a firefighter at Patchway Fire Station.

During his 29 years with the service, John has worked at a number of fire stations as Crew, Watch and Station Manager. He has also held specialist posts in Community Safety, Service Delivery, Training, Technical Services and Press & Public Relations, as well as support officer to the Service Management Board.

John has also gained a HND and BSc in Fire Service Studies, Command and Management.

As Director of Operations Response, John will have responsibility for ensuring the necessary support is available to provide effective and efficient delivery of services.

He said: “I have been very fortunate in my career to work with some incredible people who have contributed to the continued success of AF&RS.

"I feel extremely privileged to be given the opportunity to take on this role and would encourage all of our staff to maximise their personal and organisational development opportunities in this wonderful organisation".

John, who is married to Marie, has a son in the Royal Navy.

When not at work, John enjoys countryside walks and trying to keep fit at the gym.
